Laying the groundwork for new Africa-led research

The PARC team were in Nairobi, Kenya, last month, bringing together teams of University of Bristol and Africa-based researchers, mostly those who worked on projects funded by the Perivoli Foundation, to start developing an entirely new programme of research. This new work will also be grounded in the principles of the Africa Charter.

PARC Chair Isabella Aboderin said:

“I deeply appreciated the openness, intellectual depth and humility in our discussion, which, ultimately, brought all of us — scholars from hugely diverse fields (the Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences)  — together as an envisioned community of practice for transformative partnership working aligned with the Africa Charter.”
The envisioned projects are not expansions or continuations of the existing PARC Partnership Fund supported projects, but the teams involved have previously investigated a broad range of subject areas, from health solutions through to schools projects.
