Research and innovation for international development: a focus on impact

This session will introduce impact in the context of research for development specifically and is aimed at researchers and research development staff, particularly those with little experience of ODA research.

This session will feature speakers from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the International Network for Advancing Science and Policy (INASP), Swansea University, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) and will be chaired by Professor Louise Bracken (Deputy Vice-Provost (Research), Durham University).

 Event 2: Tuesday 24 November 2020, 14:00 – 15:30

ODA compliance: post-award compliance and due diligence in research for international development

This session will outline funders’ expectations and share best practice with regards to demonstrating ODA compliance post-award. It will also provide an update on a UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) funded Association of Research Managers and Administrators (ARMA) project to provide a national service for international due diligence. This session will be aimed at current and/or previous grant-holders and research development staff.

 This session will feature speakers from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), and the Association of Research Managers and Administrators (ARMA) and be chaired by Professor Tara Dean (Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research, University of Brighton).

Event 3: Wednesday 2 December 2020, 11:00 – 12:30

Safeguarding and ensuring equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in research for international development

Funders and delivery partners will outline principles of and practical guidance on meeting requirements relating to safeguarding and EDI in research for international development. This session is aimed at current and/or previous grant-holders and research development staff.

 This session will feature speakers from the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the UK Collaborative on Development Research (UKCDR), UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and British Council and will be chaired by Professor Anja Lowit (Deputy Associate Principal for Research, Strathclyde University).
